Role Description
As a Physical Therapy Assistant on our team, your role will be to provide direct physical therapy services to assigned patients under the supervision of our licensed Physical Therapists.

 

Your Responsibility to our Patients
Our patients come to physical therapy because they are looking for a level of individualized care. We are looking for our new team member to exhibit professionalism and empathy while committing to the following responsibilities:

  • Can listen to each patient’s concerns and goals for treatment, and answer any questions that may arise in a compassionate manner.
  • Understands the needs and behaviors of various disabilities and ages and can tailor programs appropriately.
  • Assist the Physical Therapist(s) in evaluations when necessary with direction.
  • Assist the Physical Therapist(s) with the development of treatment plans per the patient as directed.
  • Conduct treatment according to the established treatment plan.
  • Perform patient program evaluation in collaboration with a licensed PT.
  • Commitment to patient(s) treatment plan, including bringing up any concerns, questions, or suggestions to overseeing PT until the patients are discharged.
  • Maintain appropriate and timely records of each completed appointment.
  • Prescribe at-home exercise plans per the patient’s goals and progress.
  • Measure and track intervention effectiveness. The level of supervision is related to the ability of the PTA to safely and effectively provide those interventions delegated by the physical therapist.
  • Educate patients on continuing care and how the continued treatment plan aligns with their goals.

 

Your Responsibilities to our Practice
We are a small but mighty practice with a continuously growing book of business in an open-plan, shared-space setting. While being able to work and facilitate treatment independently under the supervision of one of our licensed physical therapists, applicants must be well versed in the following areas:

  • Follow the plan of care and treatment time frame for patients implemented by the overseeing PT.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in the treatment and follow-up process of each assigned patient.
  • Provide timely documentation and billing in the EMR under the supervision of a licensed PT.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with other team members and collaborate on patient care with our PTs.
  • Coordinate with overseeing PTs on notes and updates of shared patients.
  • Work collaboratively with our Clinical Manager to ensure patient documentation is up-to-date and patient notes are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Can self-manage a calendar of assigned patients. 
  • Assume other related PTA responsibilities as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications and Preferred Experience
Our Practice prefers applicants with at least two years of practicing as a licensed PTA in an outpatient setting, along with the following:

  • Degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited PTA program.
  • Current Illinois License to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • Certification in CPR from the American Heart Association by having completed the BLS AED Heartsaver Course.
  • Well-versed in HIPAA compliance policy and working with confidential patient information
  • Knowledge/experience working with HIPAA-compliant EMR software.
  • Fluent in Google-based products (Gmail, calendar, drive).
  • Can carry out and progress a skilled treatment plan 
  • Must be self-motivated, exhibit excellent communication skills, and maintain organization skills in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Experience with Sports Medicine and rehabilitation as it pertains to athletes is a plus. 
  • Certification and continued education in the following treatments are a plus
    • Graston technique
    • Dry needling
    • BFR
    • Cupping
